Changing your name after you marry…

One of the most popular questions I get asked, isn’t about a couple’s wedding ceremony, it is about changing a name.

Thinking of changing your name after you’ve been married? Then this blog post is for you.

The only person who can decide if changing your name is right for you, is you! I wanted to write this post as I have been through the process and it definitely isn’t as daunting as you think it might be. With the below easy steps, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…

ONE

  • You need a standard marriage certificate from Births, Deaths and Marriage’s. Your celebrant, me, can arrange this for you on your behalf. Or you can order it from your states Birth, Deaths and Marriage Government website.

TWO

  • You need to take your standard Marriage Certificate, along with other forms of identification to get a new drivers license, new passport, etc.

THREE

  • This is the fun (but also bit laborious) step… telling everyone! People you work with, social media accounts, do I need to get a new email? New business card?
